Free AutoCAD multiplexer, adder, decoder and counter symbols (DWG), IEC 60617-12 and -13 style
Multiplexers, adders, decoders, counters (IEC 60617): 61 ready-made AutoCAD blocks (DWG), free to download and use in your own projects, as a ZIP or one symbol at a time.
61 symbols as ready-to-use AutoCAD blocks, drawn after the device figures of IEC 60617-12 and -13: AND-OR-invert, exclusive-OR, parity and true/complement elements, 3-state buffers, line receiver, transmission gate; Gray, excess-3, BCD, binary and octal code converters, priority encoders, level converter; multiplexer and demultiplexer; full adder, subtractor, look-ahead carry generator, multipliers and magnitude comparators; delay line, D-latch, RS and D bistables, monostables; shift registers, decade counter, ROM, seven-segment display; analogue terminals, multiplier, squarer, operational amplifiers, voltage follower, sample-and-hold amplifier, voltage-to-frequency and DC-to-DC converters, voltage comparator and analogue switch. The basic gates and the dependency notation are in the library of binary logic elements, the general functional blocks in the library of logic functions.

Attributes for parts lists
The devices carry a visible reference (U1) and invisible attributes: FUNCTION, PART_NO, PIN_NUMBERS, MANUFACTURER and REMARKS. Every block also stores the entry number of the standard (STD_CLAUSE, for example IEC 60617-12 12-37-01) and its database number (STD_REF) as invisible attributes, so you can look the symbol up in the standard.
Because the data sit in attributes, you can export the devices of a project to Excel with BlockSync, build a parts list, check it and write the corrections back in one run, with preview and backup.
How to use the library
- Unzip the file and open the DWG. Copy the symbols you need into your plan, or drag the blocks in from DesignCenter (ADCENTER).
- The symbols are drawn at plotted size in millimetres on a 2.5 mm module: text about 2.3 mm high, pin pitch 3.5 to 5 mm. The larger devices are up to 45 mm tall. Insert them at the scale of your drawing, for example scale 2 on a 1:2 drawing.
- Devices are boxes: insert them at the centre. The pins are plain lines; add or remove pins by copying a connection line. The pin numbers of the standard's examples are written on the connection lines as text; edit them to the numbers of your own device or list yours in PIN_NUMBERS. The analogue terminals are fragments of an element outline; their insertion point is the free end of the connection line.
- Several devices show the first channels of a quadruple, hex or 8-bit device (the name says which); copy the pair of rows to add channels. Greek letters of the standard's labels (the alpha of some converters) are left out because the drawings use a plain text style.
About IEC 60617-12 and -13
IEC 60617 is the international standard for graphical symbols for diagrams. Part 12 covers binary logic elements and part 13 analogue elements; both use rectangular symbols with qualifying symbols inside and at the connections. This library follows the device examples of the standard that can be drawn without the pin numbers of a particular chip. The chip-specific examples of part 12-56 (microprocessor, DMA controller, graphics processor and the like) and figures that could not be read with certainty are not included.
These symbols are our own drawings after the figures of the standard. They are not copied from it, and the library is not certified against it. Some internal details are simplified. Check them against the standard, your company standard or your customer’s legend before you rely on a shape.
Frequently asked questions
- Are the pin numbers drawn?
- Yes. Every pin carries the number of the standard's example as text on its connection line. Those numbers belong to the chip in the standard's figure, so change them to the pinout of your own device (edit the text, or keep your list in the PIN_NUMBERS attribute). The qualifiers inside the box (0 to 9, P, Q, EN, CI, CO) are part of the symbol and stay as they are.
- Where are the basic AND, OR and NAND gates and the flip-flops with JK inputs?
- In the two companion libraries: the basic logic elements, the qualifying symbols and the dependency notation are in the library of binary logic elements; the general functional blocks (JK bistables, counters, registers, op amps) are in the library of logic functions. This library adds the complete device examples.
- Can I use the symbols in commercial projects?
- Yes. They are free to use and modify in your own projects, including commercial ones. They are provided as is, without warranty.
- Can I draw a quad or 8-bit device with all channels?
- Yes. The symbols show the first channels; copy a pair of rows and the pins to get the missing ones, or use the dots of the general symbols in the logic functions library.
- Can I change a symbol or add attributes?
- Yes. Open the DWG, edit a block with BEDIT to change it or add attributes, and save. To update drawings that already contain the block, run ATTSYNC or replace the block. Make a backup first: attribute values can be lost if ATTSYNC is used carelessly.
- Where do I find a ready-made set of these symbols for AutoCAD?
- AutoCAD itself ships only a small set of sample blocks, so a full symbol set has to come from a library. Download the ZIP on this page and open the DWG: every symbol is a block. Insert one with INSERT (Blocks palette, Libraries tab, then pick the DWG) or drag it from DesignCenter (ADCENTER). You can also download a single symbol on its own.
Count the symbols and build a parts list
Because ratings and part numbers are attributes, the symbols of a whole project can be counted and listed without opening the drawings. Export the blocks to Excel, total them with a pivot table and write corrections back in one run, with preview and backup.
