Symbol Library Terms (CXL-1.0)
Updated October 24, 2026
These terms apply to the symbol libraries that CADXChange draws itself and publishes on cadxchange.net, in the downloaded ZIP files and in the single-symbol downloads. Each library carries the line "Terms CXL-1.0" in its README, in its ZIP comment and in the properties of the DWG file. Copyright (c) CADXChange. All symbols are our own drawings.
A library that is not marked with CXL-1.0 (for example drawings made from public-domain sources) says so on its own page.
1. What you may do
Use and modify the symbols in your own drawings and projects, including commercial ones and drawings you deliver to clients. No credit is needed for that. Finished drawings that contain the symbols can be passed on, printed and published as drawings.
Share copies of the library inside your own organisation, and put the symbols in your own tool palettes, templates and company standards.
2. What you may not do
Redistribute the library or a substantial part of it, in original or modified form; sell it; add it to another block library or download site; offer it as a template or sample drawing set; or build it into a software product, plug-in or online service that you distribute.
3. Credit when you publish
If you publish our symbols or screenshots of them (tutorials, articles, videos, public download packs), credit "CADXChange" and link to the library page on cadxchange.net.
4. No standard, no warranty
The symbols are our own drawings. They are not copies of any standard, they are not certified, and they are provided as is, without warranty. ISO, IEC and other names belong to their owners; the libraries are not affiliated with them. Check the symbols against the standard or the legend you work to.
5. Libraries with a licence
Some libraries, kits and sample sets are sold with a licence (Terms CXL-1.0 Licensed). The sections 2 to 4 above apply to them too. What you may do depends on who holds the licence, as printed in the LICENSE.txt that comes with the download. A licence is perpetual and includes later updates of that library; updates carry their own terms, and you may keep using the earlier version.
5.1 Individual licence
Licensed to the account holder identified by the licence number in LICENSE.txt. The holder may use and modify the symbols in their own drawings and projects, including commercial ones and drawings delivered to clients, and may pass on finished drawings that contain them. The holder may keep the library on their own computers and backups.
Copies of the library may not be given to colleagues or others, shared on a network drive, or published. Use by several people in a team or organisation needs an organisation licence (see the library page).
5.2 Organisation licence
Licensed to the organisation identified by the licence number in LICENSE.txt, for the number of users in the size band that was purchased. The organisation may use and modify the symbols in its own drawings and projects, including commercial ones and drawings delivered to clients, and may pass on finished drawings that contain them.
The organisation may keep the library on its own computers, servers and network drives and share it among its own employees and contractors working on its projects, up to the purchased band, and may put the symbols in its tool palettes, templates and company standards. Copies may not be given to anyone outside the organisation (this includes clients, who receive finished drawings only), published, or used for other organisations or subsidiaries that are not named in the licence. A larger organisation needs a larger band.
5.3 Education licence
Licensed to the education account identified by the licence number in LICENSE.txt, for study, teaching and research. It may be used by the holder, and in the holder's own classes and research group, but not for commercial projects. Copies may not be given to others outside the institution or published.
6. Rights and changes
All rights not expressly granted are reserved. The terms may change with a new version of a library; a copy you downloaded stays under the terms version printed in it. A licence records its licence number and holder type only, not names or e-mail addresses.
