Attributes for parts lists

Every block carries a tag you can number and invisible attributes for the schedule. An item holds ITEM_TYPE, SIZE, MATERIAL, MANUFACTURER, MODEL, POWER_W, QTY and REMARKS; a complete layout holds LAYOUT_TYPE, ROOM_SIZE, AREA_M2, SEATS and STANDING; a marker or section holds MARKER_TYPE and SIZE.

How to use the library

  1. Unzip the file and open the DWG. Copy the symbols you need into your plan, or drag the blocks in from DesignCenter (ADCENTER).
  2. The blocks are drawn at real size in millimetres, 1 drawing unit = 1 mm, so a 1200 x 600 ice bin is 1200 x 600 units on the plan. The planning values are a bar counter 1050 high (865 for the accessible section), a stool zone of 600, a bartender service aisle of 1000 and customer circulation of 1200.
  3. Plan items are centred on their middle; the front of an item (the taps, the doors, the side the bartender faces) and the open side of a booth are towards -Y. Complete layouts have the origin at the centre of the room, the entrance in the bottom wall and the bar towards +Y, so you can drop a layout in as a starting point or take single items from it.
  4. Sections and elevations are drawn with the floor line at Y = 0 and the customer side towards -X. The marker blocks (stool and aisle zones, licensed boundary, glass-free zone) carry no product attributes; scale a zone to the width your project needs.

About the drawings

There is no standard for the symbols of bar and pub drawings. The blocks follow the common conventions of the trade: equipment as outlines with its working parts, a draft tower with its taps on the customer side, booths as benches around a table, a pool table with its pockets and an optional cue clearance, tanks as circles with their manway.

The blocks are our own drawings, not copies, and the library is not certified. The sizes are common planning values; capacities, licensing, fire, accessibility and food-safety rules depend on your local authority, so size and check every part against them and the design of your architect or engineer.

Frequently asked questions

Which counter and aisle sizes do the blocks use?
A bar counter 1050 high and a lowered accessible counter 865 high in section, a stool zone of 600, a bartender service aisle of 1000 (1200 for two people) and customer circulation behind the stools of 1200. The bar zone blocks are dashed outlines you can scale to your own values.
Do the blocks cover capacity or licensing rules?
No. They are drawing parts. Occupancy, exits, toilet counts, licensed areas and fire rules are set by the rules that apply to your project; the licensed boundary and glass-free zone blocks only mark the areas you have decided on.
Can I use the symbols in commercial projects?
Yes. They are free to use and modify in your own projects, including commercial ones. They are provided as is, without warranty. Please do not redistribute or resell the library; see the library terms.
How do I set up a bartender workstation?
Draw the counter and the back bar, leave a service aisle of 1000 between them, then place the ice bin, sinks, speed rails, coolers and POS from the workstation groups and the draft tower on the counter. The bartender workstation layout shows a straight run of 3600 as a starting point, and the island bar layout shows a bar with a service well.
Can I change a symbol or add attributes?
Yes. Open the DWG, edit a block with BEDIT to change it or add attributes, and save. To update drawings that already contain the block, run ATTSYNC or replace the block. Make a backup first: attribute values can be lost if ATTSYNC is used carelessly.
Where do I find a ready-made set of these symbols for AutoCAD?
AutoCAD itself ships only a small set of sample blocks, so a full symbol set has to come from a library. Download the ZIP on this page and open the DWG: every symbol is a block. Insert one with INSERT (Blocks palette, Libraries tab, then pick the DWG) or drag it from DesignCenter (ADCENTER). You can also download a single symbol on its own.
