Motor starting and control circuits (IEC)

71 finished circuit drawings for motor starters and control: direct on line, reversing, star-delta, soft starters, frequency converters, two-speed motors, pumps, conveyors and PLC control. Every circuit is a complete drawing set on a ready title block, not a loose symbol, and each one can be bought on its own.

71 finished motor circuits

Pick the one that fits, change the ratings, hand it to the workshop. No more drawing starters from scratch.

All 71 circuits at a glance

Find yours by number or name. Each one opens its own page.

Look inside before you buy

Here are 4 sample circuits out of 71. Open them in the online viewer, read-only, and zoom in on the real drawing to see how it is built. The other 67 are made the same way.

What is in every circuit

One circuit is one drawing file with these sheets, numbered like a real drawing set:

Example: the sheets of circuit A01.

Whole-library deal

71 circuits. $6 each. $426 in total.

Buy them one by one and the bill keeps growing: $6 for the first, $6 for the next, and by circuit 12 you have already paid more than the whole library costs. Take the library instead and every circuit is yours, with the index PDF, the lists and the selection guide, for under $1 a circuit. Pay once, then use them on every project.

Just $0.97 a circuit. You save $357!

What you get out of it

  • Paid back within hours

A starter with all its lists is hours of drawing. Here you pick the circuit, change the ratings and the designations, and it is ready. At typical engineer pay (about $54 an hour in the US) one circuit costs less than ten minutes of that time and the whole library about an hour and a quarter. Save one afternoon and it has paid for itself.

  • Fewer questions from the workshop

The bill of materials, wire list, terminal and I/O list, selection guide and commissioning record are already on their own sheets. The workshop gets a complete set the first time, with less back and forth.

  • Every project looks professional

One title block, one set of layers, one numbering style and the same symbols everywhere. Even a job with many starters reads as one set from one office, and clients and checkers notice that.

  • Yours to change, yours to keep

Every device is a block with attributes you can edit, and the Excel lists are yours to adjust. Pay once and use them on every project, with no subscription.

The 71 circuits

Open a circuit for its page. Four circuits open in the online viewer; for the others you see the schematic.

A · Basic starting

Pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors and machine tools that run in one direction.

B · Reversing and limit control

Gates, hoists, conveyors, drilling and shuttle tables that must run in both directions.

C · Reduced voltage starting

Large pumps, fans, crushers and compressors where the starting current has to be limited.

D · Multi-speed and special

Fans, ventilation and machine tools that need two or three fixed speeds.

E · Drives and soft starters

Pumps, fans and conveyors with variable speed, soft start and bypass.

F · Braking and special duty

Brake motors, fast stops and emergency stop circuits for machines.

G · Sequence and protection

Pump stations, booster sets, conveyor lines, lubrication, hoists and valve actuators.

H · Supply and annunciation

Control supplies, PLC controlled starters and alarm panels.

Who it is for

  • Panel builders and workshops

Quote and build from a drawing that already has the wire list and the terminal list.

  • Design offices and consultants

Take a consistent standard circuit as the base of the project drawing and spend your time on what is specific to the job.

  • Maintenance and commissioning engineers

Print the schematic, the wire list and the commissioning record for the day on site.

  • Students and teachers

Free with a school or university e-mail: real circuits with their full documentation to learn from.

Examples for engineers, not a design

The circuits are typical examples with fictional values. They do not replace the design, calculation and approval of a qualified engineer, they are provided as is, and the selection tables are for orientation only. Check every drawing against the standards, the device manuals and the rules of your installation.

Drawn with these free libraries

Every symbol in the circuits comes from our free IEC 60617 libraries. Download them to add the same symbols to your own drawings.

Questions

Which standard do the circuits follow?
The symbols are those of IEC 60617 and the designations are the common letter codes (QF, KM, FR, SB, HL). The drawings are our own; they are not copies of a standard and not certified.
Can I change the drawings and use them in client projects?
Yes. Edit them as you like and hand finished drawings to your clients. You may not resell or pass on the library itself. The licence terms have the details.
Which CAD programs open the files?
The DWG files open in AutoCAD and in other CAD programs that read DWG. The 2010 DWG and the DXF are for older or other software. Every device is a block with attributes you can edit.
Are the selection tables a design?
No. They give typical sizes for orientation and name their sources. Motor, starting conditions, cable run, short-circuit level and local rules change the result, so check every value against the nameplate and the device documents.
Do I get updates?
The licence is perpetual and covers the version you download. Updates are not promised.
Why buy the whole library instead of single circuits?
Because you will usually need more than one. From 12 circuits on, the library costs less than buying them one by one, it comes with an index PDF of all 71 circuits, and the next job already has its circuit.
Can I look at a circuit before I buy?
Yes. Four circuits open in the online viewer, read-only, so you can zoom into the real drawing. For every other circuit the page shows the schematic.
