CXNUMTextVersion 1.0.0Tested in AutoCAD

Number texts in sequence

Turns a pile of texts into a numbered series: 1, 2, 3 or P-001, P-002, in the order you pick or in reading order across or down the drawing.

How to use it

  1. Type CXNUM. Choose Settings to set the start number, step, digits, prefix, suffix, and whether the number replaces the text or goes before or after it.
  2. Choose Select to number a whole selection in reading order, or Click to number texts one by one in the order you click them.
  3. The next number is remembered, so the next run carries on where this one stopped.

Good to know

  • Works on single-line and multiline text. Formatting inside multiline text is kept.

Load it in AutoCAD

  1. Save the file anywhere you like.
  2. Type APPLOAD, pick the file and choose Load.
  3. Type the command name: CXNUM.

To have it at every start, add it to the Startup Suite in the same dialog, or load a whole folder at once with the optional loader. About the optional loader

Tested in AutoCAD (full version). Other programs that run AutoLISP may work, but they are not tested.

The code

Plain text, nothing hidden. Copy it into a file named cxnum.lsp, or download it.
